WARANGAL: Industry body FICCI secretary general Sanjaya Baru said on Friday that late former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao did not get due recognition for his services though he had steered the country through a period of political uncertainty and economic crisis.
Delivering the seventh endowment lecture in memory of P.V. Narasimha Rao on ‘1991: How PV Narasimha Rao Made History’ at Kakatiya University here, Dr Baru reminded how the economic analysts have noted that the bad economics was driven out by the good economics in 1991.
“Political analysts also declared that his was the time when good politics took over bad politics,” he observed.
Mr Baru said that the former prime minister had dealt with challenges like the balance of payments crisis and fiscal crisis in 1991, which is considered as the ‘landmark’ year in the contemporary history.
Mr Baru has also been the media adviser to then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
As part of the endowment lecture, a collection of writings penned by Narasimha Rao called ‘Golla Ramavva — Mari Konni Rachanlu’ has been released by Rajya Sabha MP Capt V Laksh-mikantha Rao.
Kakatiya University VC Prof R Sayanna, registrar Prof K Purushotham, Prof S. Srinath, Surabhi Educat-ional Society secretary and the daughter of Narasimha Rao S. Vani Dayakar Rao, PV’s son Prabhakar Rao, etc were present.
