Loan sanctions now at doorstep: Joint collector Md Imtiaz
Nellore: Following the overwhelming response to the special grievance melas held in the mandal headquarters to provide ration cards, Deepam connections, certificates for the disabled and pensions to all eligible persons, district administration is gearing up to conduct melas to offer loans without any hassles under various schemes at every constituency in Nellore district soon.
Nearly one lakh applications were received during the special grievance melas which concluded on Friday and the applications are being processed under the supervision of the special officers. All these measures are meant to prevent corruption and red-tapism and the initiative is first of its kind in the state, according to the senior officials.
A medical and health officer said physically challenged persons have openly appreciated the initiative of holding melas at mandal level while pointing their ordeals to go all the way to district headquarters to secure the certificate issued once in a while during Sadarem (Software for Assessment of Disabled for Access Rehabilitation and Empowerment) camps.
The officer said many handicapped persons, who cannot move out of their homes, came and applied for the certificate because the melas were held close to their habitations. According to officials as many as 2,956 applications have been received for disabled certificates and data entry is completed with respect to 1,500 applications as on December 19.
Speaking at length on the difficulties of differently-abled, joint collector A. Md. Imtiaz has directed the medical officers concerned to expedite the issue of certificate and submit the compliance report without further delay during a review on Friday. He underlined the need for similar approach to clear the applications pertaining to ration cards and other services.
Speaking to this news paper, Mr Imtiaz said that collector R. Muthyala Raju is keen on holding similar melas to sanction loans on the spot for eligible from different categories to reduce their agony of running from pillar to post to obtain the loans. Officials from SC, ST, BC, minorities corporation will be present to process loan applications, he said.
