TSRTC losing out to AP buses: MLAs

The demand for regulating AP buses in Telangana cropped up in the Assembly on Thursday.

Hyderabad: The demand for regulating AP buses in Telangana cropped up in the Assembly on Thursday.

TRS and Congress MLAs alleged that buses belonging to both APSRTC and private travels were operating services in Hyderabad and TS districts against the norms due to which TSRTC was incurring huge losses. They alleged that AP operators were operating multiple buses in TS on single permit.

Transport minister P. Mahender Reddy said the government will conduct an inquiry into the issue and regulate AP buses if they were found to be operating in violation of the norms. He said APSRTC has been operating 641 buses in TS and TSRTC operating 447 in AP.

A fresh inter-state agreement on operating bus services will be signed soon between AP and TS, Mr Reddy said.

Meanwhile, education minister Kadiam Srihari told the Assembly that the government will spend over Rs 11,000 crore to construct new buildings and hostels for residential schools. Collectors have been asked to identify land.
