Hyderabad: GHMC work done, mud left unattended

Though it is a two-lane road, one lane is mostly covered with sand and people are forced to use the single lane for the two way commute as well.

Hyderabad: Nearly three months after the completion of drainage pipeline work by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the mud that was dug up still lies there, covering half the width of the road at Yapral, near a private school.

The dust blows up when there a wind, causing parents to get anxious. This has been a consistent problem for the residents. It is one of the main roads that leads to the school, so most of the school buses and parents taking their wards to school do not have a choice to take this road because there is no alternative road.

Mr Venkata Ramana, a resident of Trimulgherry and a parent who takes his child to the school, said, “It has been many days since the GHMC finished the work but even after all these days, heaps of sand and concrete material is left on the road causing inconvenience to the parents.”

Though it is a two-lane road, one lane is mostly covered with sand and people are forced to use the single lane for the two way commute as well, causing traffic jams in the peak hours in the mornings and evenings.

When contacted, GHMC executive engineer P. Anil Raj said he would send people to clear the sand and debris as soon as possible and regretted the inconvenience.
