Bengaluru: Teacher ends life in school
Bengaluru: A 28-year-old teacher committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling inside a school in Gangamanagudi police station limits.
The incident took place on Tuesday after school hours and it came to light on Thursday morning as the school was closed on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as P.M. Sumathi, wife of Nagaraju, an interior designer. The couple got married five years ago and had shifted to Chennai.
The police said that Sumathi had finished B.com and was pursuing studying B.Ed through correspondence. She joined a private school in Kammagondanahalli as a primary level teacher in February this year and was staying with her parents near the school, while her husband was working in Chennai.
According to the police, on Tuesday, after school hours, Sumathi told the other staff members that she would stay back in school for some time to finish her work. She went to the first floor and after everyone left, she hung herself in the same classroom where she was doing her paperwork.
On Wednesday, the school was closed for Eid Milad and the incident came to light on Thursday morning when the staff opened the door to clean the classroom.
The police said that she was reportedly depressed for the past few days and wanted to go to Chennai.
Her parents did not file a missing complaint as they thought she might have gone to Chennai to meet her husband as Wednesday was a holiday.
