Solar scam-hit Jose K Mani has KC(M) future in limbo

The report threw cold water on its ambitions of joining the ruling coalition.

Kottayam: The Kerala Congress (M) is in a dilemma over deciding its plans as the party vice-chairman Jose K. Mani MP figures in the Solar commission's report.

The report had come at a time when it was discussing chances of aligning with the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) or the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).

However, the report threw cold water on its ambitions of joining the ruling coalition. Party chairman K.M. Mani was expected to announce his line at the meeting of the party here on December 15. But insiders say that is quite unlikely now.

"There is confusion within the party, and the December 15 meeting would most probably be uneventful," a state-level functionary told DC.

Working chairman P.J. Joseph is against joining the LDF, whereas Jose K. Mani is all for it. Mr Mani is yet to open his mind.

Moreover, they are also troubled by the organisational reshuffle causing discontent. Another leader Sunny Thekkedam has also replaced longtime Mani loyalist E.J. Augusthy as the district president of Kottayam, the Mecca for the party.
