Hyderabad: Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandran urged non-teaching contract employees to wait for the report of the committee on rationalisation of non-teaching workforce in state universities, and resume work in the meanwhile. Their absenteeism was hampering work in the university, he said.
If things fail to improve, the administration would not hesitate to initiate disciplinary action as the protest has impacted academic activity, the Vice-Chancellor said. Further absenteeism would be viewed seriously by the administration. He said it was unfortunate that the contract lecturers had gone on strike for 10 days.
