KE Ismail taken off CPI panel

The state executive unanimously rejected Mr Ismail's statement criticising the stay out decision.

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI state executive on Wednesday initiated action against national executive committee member K. E. Ismail on his public criticism of the party's stand on Thomas Chandy issue especially the stay out of ministers from a Cabinet meeting.

He has been taken off the party's permanent panel which represents CPI at LDF state committee. Pannyan Raveendran, Kanam Rajendran and E. Chandrasekharan will represent the party in LDF state committee.

However, the party leadership maintained that removing Mr Ismail from the panel was only a technical issue and not disciplinary action. The panel was only reconstituted.

The state executive unanimously endorsed the decision to keep off its ministers from last Cabinet meeting attended by a person who was found to have violated Constitution by High Court.

The party decided to convey state executive’s sentiments on the issue before the national executive meeting in Delhi on November 24 and 25.

He said reports on differences within the CPI were a media creation. He said bilateral talks were not needed between CPI and CPM as the state secretaries of the two were in regular touch.
