Hyderabad: Verdict Friday on teacher test
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday said that it would pronounce its decision on Friday in two petitions moved challenging the rules issued by the Telangana state government for Teachers Recruitment Test (TRT) prescribing the reorganised 31 revenue districts as the local area and unit of appointment for study/residence. A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice G. Shyam Prasad was hearing a petition filed by Mr G. Arun Kumar and three others challenging the rules issued on October 10 for teacher recruitments.
Mr S. Rahul Reddy, counsel for petitioners, submitted that the government had notified the rules in violation of the Presidential Order 1975 and Article 371-D of the Constitution and the Presidential Order applicable to the erstwhile 10 districts. He urged the court to declare the Rules as illegal and direct the government to recruit the secondary grade teachers by considering the previous 10 districts as unit.
Advocate-General D. Prakash Reddy said the collector and district education officer were competent authorities to issue appointment orders. If the erstwhile districts were considered as a unit, the erstwhile districts collectors and DEOs would have to issue the orders. This would cause administrative inconvenience to the newly created districts. He said that if the court felt that 10 districts should be considered a unit, the government was prepared accordingly, and was ready to extend the last date for submission of applications. The bench said that it will pronounce its decision on Friday.
