Academic year from June 1, says Kadiam Srihari
Hyderabad: The new academic year for all government and private educational institutions including schools and universities will begin on June 1, Deputy Chief Minister and education minister Kadiam Srihari said on Wednesday.
While speaking at a meeting with education department officials at the Secretariat, he said, “For the technical and specialised universities, the closing date would be different. However, all educational institutions would begin the new academic year from June 1, 2018’’.
He said, even after the academic year commences, some private managements approach the government seeking affiliation, recognition and additional intake among others in November and December. Affiliation, recognition, seats approval, shifting, closing of all educational institutions from schools to colleges including engineering has to be completed by April 30, 2018, he said.
All educational institutions will get approvals by April 30, 2018, after which no application will be entertained. The decision is not to make things difficult for private managements but to regulate them, he added.
The minister instructed officials to prepare the academic calendar accordingly. He instructed officials to implement all the plans which were drafted by the government to strengthen the system within 40 days.
He said private educational institutions will be monitored and criminal cases be booked against the colleges where students commit suicide. All the affiliated hostels should have proper licence.
