Telangana to decide on fire safety at Numaish-2017
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday told the TS home department to take a decision on extending fire safety services to the Exhibition Society of Hyderabad for the forthcoming Numaish, scheduled to commence from January 1, 2017, in case it fails to repay Rs 80 lakh dues liable to the state disaster and fire services department.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A. Shankar Narayana was dealing with a plea by Khaja Aijazuddin, an advocate, seeking to direct the authorities to collect Rs 68 lakh in dues payable to the TS fire services by the Exhibition Society of Hyderabad.
When the bench sought the response from H. Venu Gopal, counsel for the home department on the plea, he submitted that the fire services authorities have already issued a notice to the Society and the Society has made a representation to the government seeking exemption of arrears as it is a non-profit organisation.
Mr Venu Gopal told the court that the government has rejected the representation of the Society for exemption and it is liable to pay Rs 8.14 lakh with interest. The bench told counsel to report compliance in two weeks.
