Hyderabad HC issues notice to MLA for buying nala land

While issuing the notices, the bench adjourned the case for two weeks.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the commissioner of panchayat raj and rural employment of TS and other respondents in a PIL seeking to declare the failure to take action against Manikonda sarpanch K. Narender Reddy and his wife K. Laxmamma, and MLA Donthi Madhava Reddy, as illegal.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice A. Shankar Narayana was dealing with a PIL by P. Suresh, a resident of Manikonda, alleging that the sarpanch and his wife misappropriated Rs 63 lakh of the panchayat and also sold a piece of land belonging to Bulkapur nala valued at about Rs 10 crore to the MLA.

When the bench asked counsel why the MLA was named as a respondent, he replied that there are allegations that he purchased the nala land belonging to the government. While issuing the notices, the bench adjourned the case for two weeks.
