Kamlesh Tiwari murder: ISD grills Hubballi man

Sadiq has an ailing wife and three children, besides three brothers and two sisters in the city.

Hubballi: The Internal Security Division (ISD) police have taken into custody a technician from Old Hubballi, Mohammad Jaffer Sadiq, for questioning in connection with the murder of politician, Kamlesh Tiwari of Uttar Pradesh.

Sadiq, who works as a technician at the Hubballi railway station and is said to have close links with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), was first taken into custody by the Old Hubballi police, who handed him over to the ISD, which is questioning him in Bengaluru. Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner, R Dilip, said the local police was not involved in the investigation and had only handed over Sadiq to the ISD on its request. He also clarified that Sadiq had not been formally arrested, but was only being questioned by the ISD.

Sadiq has an ailing wife and three children, besides three brothers and two sisters in the city. Upset by the police picking him up for questioning, his family claims he is not involved in any terror activity and that he has only been doing social work through a religious organisation.
