Tiruvannamalai: Girl student's relatives thrash teacher for alleged abuse

Tiruvannamalai: A class X maths teacher was beaten up in front of students by relatives of a girl student alleging he had sexually harassed her, police said. The teacher suffered head injuries and was hospitalized.
The incident at the government school near Chengam on Monday was caught on camera and was telecast by TV channels.
The relatives of the girl student stormed into the class and started assaulting the teacher even as shocked students screamed for help. The mob left the place when other teachers rushed in to rescue their colleague.
Officials of the school education department have begun an inquiry into the charges, police added.
