TDB confused over filing report in Supreme Court
Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board remained confused on Monday over filing a report on Sabarimala temple before the Supreme Court. N. Vasu, TDB commissioner, told DC that he is holding talks with legal experts on the issue.
Meanwhile, TDB president A. Padmakumar reiterated that the board will defend the faith and reports will be submitted before the Supreme Court and the high court on the present situation.
Accordingly, Sabarimala special commissioner in the rank of district judge filed a report before the high court on Monday.
Legal experts have recommended a few options to the board officials. Currently, there are 19 review petitions and two writ petitions before the Supreme Court.
The two writ petitions were filed by Shylaja Vijayan for National Ayyappa Devotees Association and another devotee, J. Rajkumar. A top TDB source told DC that if the Supreme Court considers the writ petitions then there is a chance that the court may demand the board’s stand on the issue.
If so, the TDB can file its report in the aftermath of the Supreme Court verdict allowing women of all age groups into Sabarimala. “In case the writ petitions are not considered, then the TDB will get time till Oct. 28 to file review petition before the SC. “We are also seeking legal advice on the possibility of application before the Supreme Court to submit a report on what happened during the course of the five-day pooja during the Malayalam month of Thulam”, said a top TDB source.
