Pudukottai: Dismissing reports of fissures between him and Chief Minister K Palaniswami, Deputy CM O Panneerselvam Monday said "not even a tsunami" can create problems between them.
Charging the opposition parties with trying to drive a wedge between him and CM, OPS said all such attempts from "within and outside" were sure to fail.
Insisting that the party and the government were both functioning fine, OPS told a marriage function here, "I am the coordinator for the party and he (EPS) the joint coordinator. He is the Chief Minister and I am the Deputy CM. Even if a tsunami strikes, the opposition parties cannot create a problem between us. We are determined and treading the path of ideals laid down by MGR and Amma".
OPS' assertion comes weeks after his rival and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam founder TTV Dhinakran made a sensational disclosure that he (OPS) had met him last year and sought a meeting with him again now in an effort to dislodge EPS from power and become CM himself.
OPS denied TTV's claim, insisting he had no CM ambition now as he had held that position thrice and was content. Admitting that he had met TTV last July, OPS insisted that he had done that only with the hope that he (TTV) had become a 'reformed' person but he was proved wrong....
