Only those aiming fame would turn up at Sabarimala: KITCO

The research instoitute is being set up by the Kerala government under the National Ayush Mission.

Kochi: Kerala government-owned consultancy organisation KITCO Ltd has been chosen as consultant for setting up an International Research Institute of Ayurveda (IRIA) in Kalliyad in Kannur at a cost of Rs 300 crore.

The research instoitute is being set up by the Kerala government under the National Ayush Mission. KITCO has to submit the detailed project report (DPR) in 3 months.

The project involves setting up a research centre, hospital building, herbal garden, museum building, residential accommodation for staff and scientists, procuring equipment, lab facilities, guest house and plant building. The centre is intended to do research in rehabilitative medicine, curative and preventive medicine. The project will come up on 200 acres of land and total built up area will be 68,000 square metre.

The second phase of the project involves setting up of ayurvedic hospitals in all districts in Kerala that confirm to the world standards in diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. “The setting up of the International Ayurveda Institute will open a new chapter in Ayurveda treatment and research in the State with the most modern infrastructure for testing and development of new medicines,” Cyriac Davies, managing director of KITCO, said.
