Loknath Behera warns against cyber attack on officers
Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Loknath Behera has warned of stern action against those who abuse IPS officers on the social media in connection with Sabarimala agitation.
IG (Thiruvananthapuram-range) Manoj Abraham and IG (crimes) S. Sreejith were widely abused in the social media in connection with the protection they gave the women who turned up for Sabarimala darshan the other day.
Mr Behera said in a statement that the religion or faith of police office officers does not matter while discharging official duties. "Vilification and abusing police officers in connection with discharging offoicia duties could not be justified," Mr Behera said. “Such acts amounted to demoralising the officials. Stringent action would be taken against such attempts.”
The Museum police earlier registered a case in connection with spreading of communally sensitive posts on social media in connection with the Sabarimala issue.
Activists of various Sangh Parivar outfists under the banner of Sabarimala Karma Samathi had even staged a march to the house of Mr Abraham here on Friday.
