D Jayakumar denies sex scam, will sue
Chennai: Senior minister D Jayakumar on Monday denied involvement in the scam and swore he would sue the 'miscreants' after two audio clips claiming to be his, and an image of a birth certificate with his name shown as the father of a baby born in August this year, went viral.
In the first audio clip, a male voice - claiming to be Jayakumar - is heard telling a distressed woman to take her daughter to a hospital and abort the foetus after she claimed he had impregnated her. The male voice also asked the woman to meet him at his house for monetary help to meet hospital expenses.
In the second clip that is longer the man is heard talking to the same woman, who was pleading that it was not possible to abort the foetus. He is heard telling her to meet him alone at the main road and they could discuss the situation in detail. Along with the two audio clips, an image of an alleged birth certificate showing 'D Jayakumar' as the father of the baby born in August this year, also went viral.
Stoutly denying involvement in this paternal scam, Jayakumar told reporters Monday evening the male voices in the audio clips were not his, nor the name on the birth certificate. He accused the Sasikala family and TTV aides of fabricating the audio to bring disrepute to his name due to political enmity. "People who don't have the strength to fight me directly have done this", he declared and said he would file a case against the 'miscreants'.
Asked about his name in the alleged birth certificate, the minister said anybody's name can be put in there and asked if he was the only D Jayakumar in the world.
Senior party colleague M Thambidurai came out in support of Jayakumar and questioned the authenticity of the audio clips. "It's usual for such matters to come on TV. It is clearly wrong news spread by those seeking to divert attention. Jayakumar is not that kind of a person. Amma chose him," said the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker.
