Congress to take on LDF, BJP on Sabarimala issue

KPCC president Mullapally Ramachandran said that padayatras and vehicle rallies will be held in six districts in the Malabar region till November 15.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress is concerned that the BJP has stolen its thunder on the Sabarimala issue reducing it to merely an onlooker.

The political affairs committee that met here on Sunday evening, therefore, decided to go all-out against the LDF government with the slogan 'Down with communism, victory for belief.'

The party will organise padayatras to Pathanamthitta from different regions which will conclude there on November 15, a day before the Mandala - Makaravilakku season starts.

CWC member A. K. Antony will inaugurate a mass rally at Pathanamthitta on that day which will be attended by Congress workers from across the state. The padayatra from Thiruvanantha puram, Alappuzha,

Thriss ur and Thodupuzha to Pathanamthitta will be led by K. Muraleedharan, KPCC election campaign committee chairman, Shanimol Usman, executive committee member, Kodikunnil Suresh MP and Thiruvanchoor Radha krishnan MLA respectively.

At the PAC meeting, KPCC working president K. Sudhakaran first expressed his concern over the Congress getting sidelined by the BJP which was leading the protests on the Sabarimala issue.

Mr Muraleedharan, Thiruva nchoor Radhakri shnan and senior Congress leader P. J. Kurien also supported him.

Mr Thiruvanchoor suggested that the party should hold protests across the state.

"Mr V. D. Satheesan MLA coined the slogan, 'Down with communism, victory for belief,'" said a senior PAC leader.
