Bengaluru: Nine days after Ningamma was washed away along with her daughter Pushpa, her body was found in a drainage next to a Rajakaluve near Jnanabharathi on Sunday afternoon.
Police said that the 57-year-old woman’s body was found by a passerby, who went to throw something into the drain. He alerted the Jnanabharathi police that a woman’s body was found in the drain.
The police rushed to the spot and retrieved the highly decomposed body and sent it for post-mortem to the Victoria Hospital.
“Based on the suspicion that it could be Ningamma’s body, her daughter Shobha was asked to identify it. She identified that the body was her mother’s,” the police said.
Ningamma and her daughter Pushpa, 22, were washed away after they fell into a storm water drain, while coming out of their house in Kurubarahalli near Mahalakshmi Layout, after it was flooded due to heavy rain.
Ningamma’s body was found in the drain that is about seven kilometers away from her house. Pushpa’s body was found in a drain near Kumbalgodu three days after the incident.
