No hint of Blue Whale' game say investigators
Chennai: A 25-year-old engineering graduate committed suicide by hanging in his house in old Alamathy near Red Hills on Saturday night. Cut injuries on his hand and the deceased man’s obsession with playing computer games sparked rumours that he was a victim of the ‘Blue Whale’ game. Attributing the man's death to depression, police off icers ruled out any possible links to the deadly online game.
The deceased was identified as T Dinesh whose farmer father Thirunavukkarasu runs a tea stall in the neighbourhood. Dinesh was working in a private firm in Mumbai and he had come home for Deepavali holidays last week.
On Saturday evening, his parents who had gone out returned home to find the door locked from inside. Repeated knocks on the door elicited no response following which, Dinesh’s father, Thirunavukkarasu and neighbours broke open the door.
“He had hung himself using his mother's saree”, a police officer said. Sholavaram Police rushed to the scene on information and moved his body to the hospital for post-mortem.
