Nizam's kin to move Hyderabad High Court over Victoria Memorial Home land

Hyderabad: The Nizam family is planning to file a public interest litigation in the High Court against the handing over of 10 acres of land belonging to the Victoria Memorial Home to the police department.

Mir Mahboob Ali Khan had donated the land for a social cause meant to to serve the underprivileged. “Instead of fulfilling the purpose, the government is liberally allotted it for petrol bunk, fruit market, vegetable market and now the police department. Where in the city you will find a huge land parcel where a full-fledged university could be established,” Mr Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of seventh Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan, said.

The sixth Nizam did not mention the caste of a person to be admitted at the orphanage. “As he was a secular ruler, it was open to all. The Chief Minister failed to understand the intention of the donation,” he complained.

Mr Najaf said that the Nizam family had written a letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asking him to cancel the lease agreement. “There is no response so far. So, we will be moving the court to get justice,” he said.
