Hyderabad: The much-publicised 2BHK housing scheme is not yet started in 20 districts out of 31 and in 82 Assembly constituencies excluding Hyderabad after two Dasara festivals have passed.
The TRS government has announced a construction of 2.68 2BHKs across the state on Dasara in 2015. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s home constituency stands on top with 568.
Not a single 2BHK has been constructed in Nirmal, housing minister A. Indrakaran Reddy’s home constituency out of the 1,400 sanctioned and in Sircilla, the Assembly constituency of minister K.T. Rama Rao.
Twenty houses were completed in minister T. Harish Rao’s Siddipet constituency against the sanctioned 1,200. According to a report submitted to the government by the TS housing Corporation construction of 2,217 2BHKs in 14 Assembly constituencies have been completed.
Against 2,68,099 houses allotted by the government, collectors have accorded administrative sanction for 2,05,567. Tenders were called for construction of 1,74,390 houses and finalised for 1,07,367.
Of these, 66,930 houses were grounded and construction of 2,217 houses completed. The government has so far released '521 crore to collectors for the construction of 2BHKs.
In the GHMC area, the government had sanctioned one lakh 2BHKs. Work has started on 24,644 and 396 are completed. An official said that the slow pace of work was due to the poor response from contractors, problems with land acquisition and and shortage of availability funds.
