Hyderabad: The only government homoeopathy hospital in Motigally in the Old City is crying for attention of the authorities.
The hospital is on the verge of closure due lack of a permanent building. The in-patient facility at this 20 bed hospital was closed due to lack of space.
Only the out patient facility is active in the hospital currently. Around 200 patients visit the hospital everyday and the number swells during seasonal ailments.
Elderly persons with hypertension, diabetics, renal problems and skin allergies face problems as it is located on the first floor. Doctors go downstairs to attend physically challenged patients who visit the hospital.
“We had to close down the in-patient facility after the hospital was shifted to the primary health centre building. After a lot of struggle, we managed to get two rooms,” said a hospital employee.
The hospital was established at Motigally in the 1960s. It was shifted to several places. It functioned from a rented premise in Shahalibanda for ten years. Later, it was shifted to Panjesha.
“Now we are running the out-patient department from two rooms. In Au-gust, about 7,000 patients visited the hospital for skin-related ailments. Pa-tients from the neighbouring Mahbubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts also come,” said Mr B Pramelaa Devi, hospital superintendent.
When contacted, Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Charminar MLA, said, “They infor-med us that they do not have funds to demolition the old building and construct a new one. We have assured them that funds will be provided.”
