Bangalore Turf Club saga could take a turn
Bengaluru: There is a glimmer of hope for the start of the Bengaluru winter season, though a few weeks beyond schedule, as the Bangalore Turf Club has been given the nod by the government to amend the Articles of Association to increase its membership.
Now it is in the hands of the voting members as the survival of the club depends on passing the resolution by them, by way of granting 50 memberships to the government nominees which was a pre-condition sought by the state to renew the club’s license.
Everyone interested in the welfare of the sport should convince the members to ensure that the resolution goes through by 3/4th majority. “The permission which the club had sought from the government under Article 60 to amend the Articles of the Association for the purpose of increasing the membership has been received. We need 21 clear days for the Special General Body Meeting to be called and probably it will be on November 15 or 17 and we hope that our members will cooperate and ensure that the resolution is passed to see that we can end the impasse” said Harimohan Naidu, chairman of the BTC.
The club had already incurred a loss of nearly 10 crores and also jeopardized the lives of thousands of workers as there hasn’t been racing activity since September 1.
