A Revanth Reddy says not leaving TD
Hyderabad: The TS TD politburo and central committee unanimously decided at their meeting on Sunday to authorise party president AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to initiate any action on party working president A. Revanth Reddy who has all but decided to join the Congress. Mr Revanth Reddy was not invited to the meeting.
TS TD president L. Ramana, briefing mediapersons after the two-hour meeting convened at the party headquarters, said, “since it is a foregone conclusion that Revanth Reddy has decided to join the Congress, we have decided to request Mr Naidu to take any action against Revanth Reddy”.
Mr Ramana pointed out that several Congress leaders had confirmed that Mr Revanth Reddy was joining the party, and he had not denied the reports.
Mr Ramana said that though in the earlier meeting several politburo and central committee members had asked Mr Revanth Reddy to respond to the reports, he refused to oblige and continued meeting with Congress leaders. “Hence we have decided to submit a report to our party president enclosing all the media clippings etc and leave the matter to him”.
In a new twist to the row, Mr Revanth Reddy said he would announce his decision after meeting Mr Naidu on his return from foreign trip.
Mr Revanth Reddy on Sunday met his followers and leaders in Kodangal, his Assembly segment, and denied reports of his defecting.
“I will continue my fight against the TRS forever and will contest from Kodangal again in next elections. The reports on my changing party are not true,” Mr Revanth Reddy said.
Referring to the Assembly session from October 27, Mr Revanth Reddy said he had convened the TS Telugu Desam Legislature Party meeting on October 26 to discuss the issues to be taken up.
