Over 6.34 lakh people write exam for government job in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: A record of sorts was created for the written test conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for appointment of lower division clerks in Kerala State Beverages Corporation on Saturday.
A whopping 6,36,634 candidates wrote the examination across 2,608 centres. The 75-minute duration test was for 100 marks.
The test covering General English, Mathematics, local language and mental ability began at 1.30 pm. It beat the existing record of 5,41,823 candidates who wrote the examination for the university assistant held on May 24.
Government-aided and unaided schools and colleges across the state were selected as the examination centres. Thiruvananthapuram with 1,19,220 candidates in 489 centres had the most number of applicants among districts. Kasargod where as many as 16,919 candidates appeared in 60 centres had the lowest number of applicants.
It was in 2014, applications for LDC in Kerala State Beverages (Manufacturing and Marketing) Corporation Limited were called. The medium of examination is Malayalam and for linguistic minorities, question paper will be in Tamil and Kannada. The number of vacancies now reported in Beverages Corporation is 500. They may even go up to 1,000 before the expiry of the rank list as the duration of the list was for three years.
