Congress, TD dare K Chandrasekhar Rao to bypoll test

The TPCC chief said that there are reports of discontent is brewing in the ruling party, with several MLAs ready to sabotage TRS chances.

Hyderabad: Leaders of the Congress and Telugu Desam on Saturday challenged Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to go in for bypolls to Assembly seats held by MLAs who defected to the TRS so that he can verify if his popularity is still intact.

In separate interactions with the media, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and TD MLA A. Revanth Reddy slammed the survey that projected that the TRS would win 109 seats if polls were held now. A section of the media had carried the results of this survey.

The TPCC chief said that there are reports of discontent is brewing in the ruling party, with several MLAs ready to sabotage the TRS chances. “Added to growing discontent against the TRS for its failures on several counts, this was a recipe for a TRS rout,” he said.

Elsewhere, Mr Revanth Reddy suggested to the CM that it would be better for him to test the people’s pulse selectively in Assembly seats held by the defectors instead of boasting about how strong the TRS was by getting a few ill-famed and unscrupulous institutions to conduct surveys.

He said a survey on implementation of loan waiver, conversion of Tribal tandas into Panchayaths, three acre land to each Dalit family, 12 per cent reservations to STs and Muslim minorities and fee reimbursement to students should have been conducted.
