Cops probe fake mortgage loans in Tirupur
TIRUPUR: Two persons allegedly duped a man of Rs 1.50 lakh by promising him a mortgage loan against property in Tirupur. According to police, Moorthy, 51, hailing from Vellakovil was approached by Selvaraj, 42, and Dinesh, 22, from Tirupur for a mortgage loan.
The duo convinced him to get a mortgage loan of several lakh rupees against his property. Believing them, Moorthy gave them Rs 1.50 lakh as processing fee.
When they did not respond even after a week and had switched off their mobiles, Moorthi lodged a complaint at Tirupur North police on Sunday.
Following preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the duo had cheated many persons with similar promises of loans.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
The case seems so unusual in the hosiery hub where people are business-savvy.
