Hyderabad: A Ganesh laddu covered with 116 grams of gold was auctioned for Rs 8.01 lakh at Musheerabad on Saturday, the first time this has been done. The successful bidder, Mr Kadaboyina Bhaskar, is in the fish business.
There were about 15 bidders for the auction conducted conducted by the Bhagat Singh Youth Association at Bholakpur. A large crowd of devotees had gathered to witness the auction.
Mr Bhaskar stated that he had successfully bid for the laddu at Bholakpur, Musheerabad, three years ago but that was a normal laddu.
Speaking of his successful bid, he said, “Our family feels great. We are planning to distribute the laddu to all our family friends, relatives, utsav committee members and share our hapiness.”
He said that the family would preserve the gold covering of the laddu.
