TRS activist Ayub Khan succumbs to burn injuries

Hyderabad: A TRS activist from Vikarabad district, who set himself at a meeting in the presence of transport minister P. Mahender Reddy on August 30 in Vikarabad town, succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of Friday.

Mahmood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister, and other senior TRS leaders paid homage to Ayub.

Minister Mahender Reddy said that he was cancelling his birthday celebrations scheduled on Saturday.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Ayub’s native place in Tandur, and the police force was deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Ayub Khan was a TRS loyalist and played an active role during the struggle for a separate statehood. He led the agitation in the Tandur constituency in the undivided Ranga Reddy district.

But after the state formation and the government was formed by the TRS, Ayub Khan was not given any post, which made him depressed.

He shared his disappointment with his fellow party workers and also informed the party high command.

On August 30, while the Tandur municipal meeting was on, he came with petrol and immolated himself while Mahender Reddy was addressing the meeting.

Ayub Khan is survived by his wife, son and four daughters.
