Take action on judge-mongers: Madras High Court

Posting the matter to October 4 for further hearing, the judge made these observations.

Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the authorities to initiate action against persons for making defamatory unwanted observations or comments, allegations made against judges in personal and the judiciary in general.

Justice N. Kirubakaran has stated that merely because the judiciary is affected, the police need not show any special interest and like any other cases, the case connected with this issue has to be investigated and dealt with by the police. The judge also made it clear that if any, comments or observations are made against the order, there should not be any action against individuals.

Justice N. Kirubakaran has made the observation when a case with regard to the strike of government servants came up for hearing on Friday.

Additional Advocate General Venkatramani submitted that a press note was released on September 21, 2017, giving details of the contribution made by the government and also about the availability of a '18, 016 crore in the Contributory Pension Scheme account. The details were also released through visual media and print media on Wednesday.

He said that “if any, comments or observations are made against the order, there should not be any action against the individuals.

Only when defamatory unwanted observations or comments, allegations were made against the judges in personal and the judiciary in general, the action is needed to be taken.

Merely because the judiciary is affected, the police need not show any special interest and like any other cases, the case connected with this issue has to be investigated and dealt with by the police.
