Supreme Court cancels admissions by private medical colleges in MP
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled all the admissions made so far by private medical colleges and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh through Neet and directed fresh admissions to be done within a week.
A five-judge Bench comprising Justices Anil R. Dave, A.K. Sikri, R.K. Agrawal, A.K. Goel and Ms R. Banumathi passed this order on a contempt petition by the state government against the admissions made through counseling by association of private medical and dental colleges for five of the 11 colleges. Six colleges had opted for centralised counseling by the state agency.
The Bench, while making it clear that no further hearing is necessary in the contempt petition, directed the state government to conduct centralised counseling for admissions within a week in these five private colleges. The Bench asked the state government to allow two representatives from the private medical and dental colleges at the time of counseling.
On September 14, acting on the contempt petition, the Bench had ordered status quo in admission to undergraduate medical courses in private medical and dental colleges and issued notice to the colleges for their response.
Appearing for the state government, additional solicitor general P.S. Patwalia said the private colleges had issued advertisements for admitting students on the basis of their own counseling.
