PhD conferred on VCK president by M.S. University

The VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan was conferred the doctoral degree for his research work.

TIRUNELVELI: About 713 including the VCK president and Lok Sabha member, Thol Thirumavalavan was among the total of 48,581 students who received their degrees in Bachelors, Masters, M. Phil and Ph.D in person on Thursday at the 27th convocation of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar university from the state governor and chancellor of the university, Sri Banwarilal Purohit.

Delivering his felicitation address at the convocation ceremony, Tamil Nadu state higher education minister, K P Anbazhagan enlisting the various schemes of the state government for the development of the higher education in the state said that the gross enrolment ratio (GER) of Tamil Nadu is much ahead of the national average at 48.60 per cent.

Further quoting the MHRD released All India survey of higher education for 2017-18, the higher education minister added that the enrollment of women and SC and ST students for higher education in Tamil Nadu is 48.20 per cent 42.20 per cent and 40.50 per cent respectively. "This ratio is much higher when compared to the national average enrolment of these marginalised sections," said the state minister.

The VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan was conferred the doctoral degree for his research work on the topic, "Religious conversion of Meenakshipuram Dalits---a victimological study".
