Gujarat women\'s panel summons IAS officer over bigamy charges

Chairperson of the commission Leelaben Ankoliya said on Friday that the summons was issued two days ago.

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat State Commission for Women has asked IAS officer Gaurav Dahiya to appear before it after receiving a complaint from a Delhi-based woman who has accused him of bigamy and cheating.

Chairperson of the commission Leelaben Ankoliya said on Friday that the summons was issued two days ago.

"There is no response from him yet," she said.

She did not specify when he was supposed to appear. Meanwhile, the complainant woman, who had met Ankoliya on August 20 to make a representation, on Friday met Gujarat Chief Secretary J N Singh in Gandhinagar.

Addressing a press conference later, she reiterated her demand of DNA test of her eight-month-old daughter to establish that Dahiya is her biological father.

Dahiya, a 2010-batch Gujarat-cadre officer, was suspended by the state government on August 14 after the woman accused him of marrying her in 2018 by concealing the fact that he was already married.

"I have all the evidence to prove that Dahiya married me and we have a daughter together. If he claims he is innocent, he should come forward for a DNA test," she said. Dahiya has denied that he every married her, and accused her of blackmailing him.
