Chennai: Couple held in snatching, robbery cases

Police said the duo were involved in a series of robberies in the districts and came to Chennai recently.

Chennai: The city police on Thursday arrested a fake couple for their alleged involvement in several cases of snatchings across the state.

Police claimed to have solved several snatchings cases with the arrest of Parvathy and Pandian. They said the accused has been identified as Vikas alais Pandian ( 40) a native of Dindugal. The woman was identified as Parvathy( 45) of Madurai.

Police said the duo were involved in a series of robberies in the districts and came to Chennai recently. They had rented a room in Acharapakkam in Kancheepuram and targeted woman coming to Malai Matha temple.

Based on increasing complaints, Acharapakkam police formed a special team to nab the accused. CCTV footage was obtained and local intelligence was also collected after which the couple was identified.

During interrogation, the duo allegedly told the police that they have been involved in 20 cases of snatchings and robbery.
