Telangana to furnish Supreme Court guide on beacon

Special counsel told to study the maximum permissible decibels of the sound during processions.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has directed the Telangana state government to furnish the Supreme Court guidelines before it which were issued to the heads of departments of the Centre and all state governments with regard to the use of red lights with flashers on cars in the Abhay Singh versus the state of Uttar Pradesh case.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice V. Ramasubramanian was dealing with a PIL by a city advocate Vineet Dhanda seeking to direct the state government and authorities concerned to prevent and the ban the use of sirens and hooters by the heads of the all government departments as well as politicians and self-proclaimed VIPs.

He alleged that the apex court guidelines are being violated by the authorities and now they and the politicians are using sirens to secure quick access in the traffic. The bench told special counsel of the government S. Sharath Kumar to study the maximum permissible decibels of the sound during processions and festivals and inform the court in next two weeks.
