Chennai: To trap and nab Nikhil Tiwari, who was operating in dark websites, police had to think out of the box and posed as his customers.
The presence of drug network only came to light two months ago when a man was admitted to a hospital and doctors found that he had been consuming the excessive amount of foreign drugs. A detailed probe revealed that the man had purchased the drugs online.
“A police team led by inspector Christin Jayasil posed as customers and ordered for drugs on the particular website. A caller, claiming to be a drug dealer, responded and sought to know whether they wanted foreign drug tablets or powders and also fixed the date and time of the delivery,” police said.
Nikhil Tiwari came near Tiruvanmiyur bus depot with the consignment when he was nabbed by the police team, who were in plain clothes. Following the arrest, the police raided his residence and confiscated the tablets and drug powders.
