Peak demand met: SRPC chief K Vijayanand

Visakhapatnam: Southern Region Power Committee chairman K. Vijayanand said the highest peak demand and maximum energy was met in May and June this year and despite the delayed arrival of the South-West monsoon, southern states and the southern regional grid effectively met consumer expectations.

Vijayanand chaired the 47th meeting of the Southern Region Power Committee held in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The meeting discussed transmission fees and, recommended sharing critical information for seamless Southern Grid operations.

Delegates appreciated best practices and technical breakthroughs in AP.

SRPC sought ministry of power's adoption of the December 6, 2022 directive requiring transmission fees from Central Pool for intrastate lines, addressing APTEL corridor surrender and hiring senior counsel.

SRPC chairperson supported Southern states' integrated grid stability, efficiency, and shared knowledge for efficient, secure operations through the SRPC secretariat and SRLDC.

Prudhvi Tej Immadi, APEPDCL chairman and managing director, presented the power sector scenario for AP state and APEPDCL. He discussed network dependability, billing and collection developments, and the direct benefit transfer scheme, which provides free power to agricultural customers. The measures were well received by delegates.
