Registration department expects Rs 100 crore additional revenues from Khammam

The government hiked registration prices of all lands in Gram Panchayat, nagar panchayat, municipality and corporation from 30% to 50%

Khammam: The officials of the registration department expected to get Rs 100 crore of additional revenue per year with the enhancement of land prices and registration charges.

The government hiked registration prices of all lands in Gram Panchayat, Nagar panchayat, municipality and corporation from 30 to 50 per cent. The charges of all registrations were enhanced from six per cent to 7.5 per cent. There are 11 sub-registrar offices in Khammam district and the government is getting Rs150 crore every year.

In Gram Panchayats, the registration fee was enhanced to 2 per cent from 0.5 per cent. The square yard of the open plot has increased drastically. Square yard price, which is Rs. 15,000 at present, went up to Rs. 19,000 after the GO.

The residential land prices even in remote villages were hiked. It is enhanced to Rs 500 from Rs 300 per square yard. There were doubts on slowdown of registrations for a while. Cherukuri Sridhar, a real estate businessman said, “People may not buy new plots and apartments for some time. It took three months to understand the situation.”

The land price in Ballepalli in Khammam Municipal Corporation was enhanced to Rs 2,750 from Rs 1,800.
