Supreme Court refuses to stop Group-2 interviews
Hyderabad: In a big relief for TS Public Service Commission and more than 1,000 Group-2 candidates, the Supreme Court declined to intervene in the ongoing interview process.
A Supreme Court bench of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee was dealing with a special leave petition challenging the TS High Court judgment of June 4, which had paved the way for filling of 1,032 posts as per the notifications issued in 2015 and 2016.
The petitioners had taken issue with ‘double bubbling’ in OMR sheets and examiners’ mistakes in the written exams, which were conducted in November 2016. The issue was pending before the High Court for more than two-and-a-half years. After the High Court directed the PSC to go ahead with the appointment process, some petitioners approached the apex court.
Justice Chandrachud observed that whenever a recruitment notification is issued, such petitions become common. He said the Telangana High Court had written a well-thought out judgment.
The bench observed that such litigation put the public service commissions in trouble. There would be small errors and a completely foolproof process was not possible for such largescale recruitments.
