Bengaluru: Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar has issued notices to 11 Congress rebel MLAs directing them to appear before him at 11 am on Tuesday (July 23).
The notice has been served under rule 7 of The Karnataka Legislative Assembly (Disqualification of Members on Ground of Defection Rules, 1986 ) to the rebels.
The notice issued by the Assembly secretary said that it was being issued after receiving a petition dated July 11 from former Chief Minister and Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Dinesh Gundurao on their disqualification under the tenth schedule of the Constitution.
Meanwhile Siddaramaiah and Gundurao sent another letter on July 18 seeking immediate action against the legislators as per the tenth schedule. In view of this, Speaker has ordered issue of notices to Congress rebel MLAs including Ramesh Jarkiholi, Pratap Gowda Patil, Shivaram Hebbar, Mahesh Kumthalli, B.C. Patil, Byrati Basavaraj, S.T. Somashekar, Munirathna and R. Shankar.
