Hyderabad: A woman has alleged that her husband physically abused her and her six children and joined her in a mental hospital. He is demanding custody of their children, she said.
Najma, 36, said her husband Syed Akbar Hussain took her to Jeddah after their marriage 19 years ago. She claimed he tried to sell his three children. When a complaint was lodged, he threatened and got it withdrawn.
The family returned to Hyderabad. Ms Najma alleged the husband got her joined in a mental hospital. He fled to Jeddah afterwards.
Jaya Vindhyala, state general secretary of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties, who rescued Ms Najma, demanded action against the hospital, the Nampally police for not taking action and Hussein.
