Free laptops: Backlog will go in 3 months, says Vellamandi Natarajan

All eligible students who have been left out so far, will be supplied the free laptops within the next three months, the minister said.

TIRUCHY: The Tamil Nadu stood first among other states in the country in providing 14 types of educational accessories including free laptops to the school final students, according to State Tourism Minister Vellamandi Natarajan.

Mr Natarajan disclosed this while distributing the cost-free laptops to Plus-2 students for the academic year 2018-19 and Plus-1 student of the current academic year, here on Monday. All eligible students who have been left out so far, will be supplied the free laptops within the next three months, the minister said.

Speaking on the occasion, State Backward Classes minister, Mrs. Valarmathi urged the students to develop their knowledge and skills by using the laptops.

Tiruchy collector S. Sivarasu in his presidential address pointed out that 21,311 Plus-2 students of the academic year 2018-19 and 20,873 Plus-1 students of the current academic year received the free laptops in Tiruchy district today. The state is speeding up disbursal after public criticisms about delay.
