Odisha Judge comes to rescue of 60-year-old

The woman official, who is also the district and sessions judge, visited the man and enquired about his health condition.

DHENKANAL: An Odisha judge has helped rescue an elderly man living in a thatched house in a forest here.

According to reports, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) took notice that several tribal families were deprived of the benefits of the social welfare schemes owing which the DLSA chairperson, Pranita Mohanty, who is also the district sessions judge, directed the officials to intervene into the matter.

A team of DLSA officials visited the tribal hamlet. The team spotted a destitute man, Kashinath Pradhan, 60, from Bania village under Deogaon panchayat who was living in a shanty in a forest. The frail man was rescued from the inhabitable conditions and admitted to a hospital. The woman official, who is also the district and sessions judge, visited the man and enquired about his health condition.

Around 85 members of 30 families from Jamunalia, Sorisiapada and Totapada said that they do not have Aadhaar and voter cards due to which they are unable to avail any government benefits.
