Kakinada: Two agriculture labourers were washed away in a flooded canal in Kovvada on Sunday night.
According to Gopalapuram police, the two labourers Mallaipudi Venkatrao, 50, and his nephew Nuthangi Ramakrishna, 20, of Chityala village in Gopalapuram mandal of West Godavari had gone to work in the fields.
On their way home, while crossing the canal, both of them got washed away.
The farmers and villages informed the police. Search operations are underway.
The Gopalapuram sub-inspector M. Jayababu said that the search operations were underway, but the weed in the canals are creating obstructions for the search operation. However, the local fishermen are taking part in the operation.
