Horror on the highway! Two charred as car catches fire

The fire dept rushed to the spot with two fire tenders and five personnel.

Bengaluru: In a horrific incident, two men were charred to death as the car they were travelling caught fire after colliding with a private bus at Hennagara Gate on Hosur main road, early Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Zabiulla, 24, working in a real estate firm and Ismail, 28, a resident of Hosur. They got burnt alive inside the car.

According to the police, the car, a Hyundai i20, which was heading towards Hosur, first hit the divider and got into the other side. It then collided with a bus coming in the opposite direction.

The impact was so severe that both the vehicles caught fire. While the 19 bus passengers, who were asleep, were immediately alerted and they escaped, some of them sustained minor injuries.

A senior officer said that after the bus passengers got out, they noticed that the car had also caught fire and tried to rescue the car passengers, but they could not open the door as it had jammed. The car soon got completely gutted.

The police said that they have alerted the family members of the deceased and have taken statements from the passersby and the passengers.

The fire and emergency official said that they received the information around 4.50 am and immediately rushed to the spot along with two fire tenders and five personnel and doused the fire.

The Suryanagar police who rushed to the spot have sent the bodies for postmortem. The police have registered a case and are on lookout for the bus driver, who fled after the accident.
