Kalaburagi: The long pending demand for setting up a police commissionerate here has been fulfilled with the IGP North East Range S. Murugan assuming charge as the new Commissioner on Friday. This is an additional charge that Murugan is holding.
It may be mentioned that the State government had in December 2012 proposed to set up police commissionerates at Kalaburagi and Belagavi.
But it was at the Cabinet meeting held here that the Siddaramaiah government had taken the decision to set up the commissionerate.
