TN website crashes after Kamal Haasan's call to send mails on corruption
Chennai: Two days after actor Kamal Haasan urged the public to send evidence of corruption rampant in government departments to government mail ids of state ministers, the state government website (tn.gov.in) crashed on Saturday.
On Friday, official mail IDs of ministers and their address went missing from the state official website.
Previously, the website was furnished with information about a minister's residence and office address, contact phone numbers and an email ID. But after Kamal's statement, the details sparring the state minister's profile pictures were removed.
The actor made an appeal through a statement that was released through his Twitter account, subsequently complaints started pouring in to the state mail ids and it was decided to remove the contact numbers, address and the mail ids of the ministers, informed sources said but there were no official explanation from the state on the website crashing down.
Finance minister D Jayakumar maintained that the contacts of the MLAs were still intact in the government website and said that those who want action against corruption should submit proper proofs. Tweeting and sharing posts in social media is childish, Jayakumar said.
Echoing Jayakumar's view, state law minister C.V. Shamugham also maintained that mail IDs and contact address of ministers were intact on the state website.

Mounting a scathing attack on the opposition DMK, Union minister of state for road transport, highways and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said the party was "desperate to capture power."
Claiming that DMK would stoop down to any level to capture power in the state, Mr Radhakrishnan said its latest 'strategy' is to capitalise on actor Kamal Haasan's sudden outburst against the ruling AIADMK.
"DMK is very desperate to come back to power. It somehow wants to come to power by clutching onto anything. They want to cling on to Kamal Haasan and work their way up the ladder," Mr Radhakrishnan said reacting to query from reporters on Saturday.
The veteran actor, who is involved in an intense war of words with the ruling AIADMK, has accepted the DMK's invitation to attend the diamond jubilee celebration of party's mouthpiece Murasoli on August 8.
DMK has also invited actor Rajinikanth whom the BJP has been making overtures. Speaking in similar vein, party president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said actor should make a proper decision before entering politics. Pointing out that her party was not averse to anyone talking about corruption, she sought to know why he criticised AIADMK alone and ignored DMK and Congress, which were allegedly involved in 2G spectrum scam. The state government should conduct local bodies elections before August-end, she said.
